  The Barbados Youth Leadership Programme (BYLP)

This programme is a unique leadership development initiative designed to pool together young people in Barbados in order to build critical leadership skills which is needed in today’s society. The participants are given the opportunity to learn from and exchange views and ideas with Government officials, Leadership training professionals, media personalities and Specialists from UNICEF, National Council on Substance Abuse, The University of the West Indies,  Cave Hill Campus along with young leaders in Barbados and the Caribbean. Each session is designed to educate, inspire and motivate the participants to become outstanding leaders by equipping them with the essentials for good decision making, building their confidence and allowing them to have a firsthand knowledge of global issues which affect young people around the world. BYLP is presented in a fun-filled yet challenging atmosphere which is essential for the growth of the scholars.


Details For The Barbados Youth Leadership Programme 2014

The main topics being focused on are on Leadership, Financial Management, HIV/AIDS and Etiquette.  We are also inviting sixty (60) young people to the retreat managed by a ten (10) member management team.

The objectives of this year’s programme are:

  • To increase knowledge of Leadership, CARICOM, HIV/AIDS and Gender Based Violence among participants
  • To provide the participants with the adequate knowledge, information and skills to make healthy choices and reach their full potential 
  • To create youth led campaign material addressing issues facing Leadership, CARICOM, specifically HIV/AIDS and Gender Based Violence.

The retreat caters to young people ages 14-20

Venue

The location of the retreat is at a retreat facility in St.John or St.Philip. The exact venue of the retreat will be disclosed to interested persons after they send an email to the email address in the "Contact Us" section. 

Registration Fee 

The registration fee for the retreat is $50.00 BDS.

How do I dress?

The number one rule when dressing is that your clothes must not be revealing. The dress code for all sessions will be casual wear with the exception of exercises and the hike.
